The David and Lucille Packard Foundation

The co-founder of the Hewlett Packard Company did more than make computers in his lifetime. He also created the David and Lucille Packard Foundation, which provides funding for the improvement of the lives of children and families, among other things. One of the foundation’s most ambitious goals is to promote access to health insurance for all children. They support applicants from communities that seek to sustain, improve, and expand existing public health insurance programs for children. They also support communities that maximize children’s participation in public programs.

“CATCH” this Medical Home Effort

The AAP’s Community Access to Child Health (CATCH) program has made strides in ensuring every child in every community has access to a medical home that fits their needs. CATCH recognizes that pediatricians are a child’s best bet in receiving community-based services, so the program has provided them with training, technical assistance, peer support, and funding opportunities. CATCH grants are routinely awarded to pediatricians and pediatric residency programs, providing a great opportunity to fund community-based systems efforts across the country. Check out what opportunities are currently available on the CATCH website.
