Children will be screened early and continuously for special health care needs.

Why is this important?
Most states have a variety of early screening programs that require interagency efforts to assure developmental screening is performed for every infant and child. When these programs work together and are organized so that families can use them easily, it is more likely that the children with special health needs will be identified early. When identified early, they will be more likely to receive care and resources to promote optimal development and prevent future morbidity.
