Families as Partners

Performance Measure 1: Families as Partners

More About: family partnership

Families of children with special health care needs will partner in decision-making at all levels and will be satisfied with the services they receive.

Why is this important?

Families are the constants in a child’s life. Without their input and participation, it would be difficult to achieve organized services that families of children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) can use easily.

By partnering with family members, including those representative of culturally diverse communities, and helping them have a meaningful and consistent role in systems development at the state and community level, CYSHCN are more likely to get the services they need.
