Activity 2: Share and discuss results with a variety of audiences

In preparation for disseminating data results, State Leadership Teams should complete a Dissemination Worksheet. A sample is available to download as a Word document (10K).

Also, it may be helpful to review the list of Considerations for Dissemination of Data shown below.

Considerations for Dissemination of Data Results

  1. Who comprises the audience for the information?
    1. Agencies
    2. Families
    3. Legislators
    4. Private providers
    5. Others?
  2. What are the information needs of the audience?
    1. Identify needs of their consumers
    2. Identify program goals/priorities
    3. Measure their success/accountability
    4. Demonstrate need for funds
    5. Educate families/increase awareness of how they compare to other families of CSHCN
  3. What do you expect the audience to do with the information?
    1. Identify who will be disseminating the information
    2. How will the information be disseminated?
  4. What's the message you want to deliver?
    1. List the messages that seem most important to you and your partners
    2. What is the tone? (Highlight successes or needs, or neutral)?
  5. What specific information do you want to convey?
    1. Which indicators? Are some less meaningful to your audience?
    2. Which data sources? Are some less technically sound?
    3. How should the information be displayed? How will statistical information and methodological issues be addressed?
  6. How will you get the information out?
    1. Presentations
    2. Mailings
    3. Web-based information
    4. Telemarketing
